Mathematics Education Emphasis, M.Ed.
The School of Education and Division of Teaching, Learning, Leadership and Policy offer an M.Ed. in education with an emphasis in mathematics education. The M.Ed. is a 30-credit degree designed to support the professional practice of in-service teachers.
Faculty expertise includes culturally responsive mathematics education, equity in mathematics education, pre-service mathematics teacher education, support of English learners in mathematics classrooms, and STEM education. Mathematics education faculty often collaborate in grant-funded research (e.g. NSF and IES) with colleagues in the SOE, across campus (e.g. engineering), and nationally.
For students interested in educator preparation programs that lead to licensure recommendation, the School of Education does offer an M.Ed. in education with an emphasis in mathematics education that leads to recommendation for licensure. This program is through our Educator Preparation Program and in this program you can become a licensed teacher in approximately 15 months through our accelerated program.
